2019 Pan Mei Chen Asia Tour Concert...
Pan Mei Chen 潘美辰, popular Taiwanese Mando-pop singer-songwriter. Her debut composition song 悔 written in 1987 at the age of 18, won an award in a Taiwan singing competition and there after she had gone on to produce many albums for herself and other singers over the years. Her hits songs include 我想要有个家, 拒绝融化的冰, 我曾用心爱着你, 不要走不要走, 你冷不冷 and many more. She had released more than 20 albums and her latest album entitled好久都没有 was released in 2017. Pan had won numerous awards since her years in the entertainment scene. She had staged concerts in most parts of China as well as the South East Asia.Be reminisced by Pan Mei Chen as she returns to Singapore together with her guest artiste Moon in her new Asia Tour concert 2019 belting out her hits songs and playing various instruments to wow her audiences with her uncompromised stage persona and showmanship.

Established in 2010, the CHIJ Katong Convent Concert Band has grown by leaps and bounds under the baton of Mr. Sim Kim Seng. The band comprises of 40 skilled student musicians who have all undergone the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music practical examinations to hone their skills and talent.Despite being relatively new, the concert band has made quick and considerable strides, winning consecutive Gold awards at the biannual Singapore International Band Festival Competition (2012–2018). On their first overseas trip to the Hong Kong Winter Band Festival (2012), the band received a Gold award. The band has also attained Certificates of Distinction at the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation (2013, 2015, 2017). In addition, its clarinet ensemble won the First Prize at the Singapore Clarinet Festival Ensemble Competition (2015).The concert band has taken part in exchange programmes with ensembles such as the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Macau Youth Symphonic Band, and West Winds. The band has also worked with renowned conductors and composers such as Yo Goto, Toro Miura, Frank Tryoka, and Richard Saucedo.In 2015 and 2017, the band performed full-length concerts as part of Limelight at the Esplanade Concert Hall. Saint Patrick's School Military Band was established in 1953 and has since built a rich history of music excellence in the school band scene. The band has participated in numerous competitions both locally and abroad over the past 20 years.Locally, the band has maintained its high standard of music performance at the Singapore Youth Festival, where it has attained a remarkable eleven consecutive Gold awards, four consecutive Gold with Honours awards and three consecutive Certificates of Distinctions. Saint Patrick’s School Military Band also actively gives back to the community through various public performances at elderly and children homes, Singapore Botanic Gardens, Esplanade, Gardens by the Bay, the Istana, and Universal Studios Singapore.This performance marks the band’s very first Limelight concert. Although there are stylistic differences between schools, the basic elements of Sruthi (the relative musical pitch), Swara (the musical sound of a single note), Raga (combination of notes in a melodic form), and Tala (the rhythmic cycles) form the foundation of improvisation and composition in Carnatic music. The music provides ample scope for improvisation and on-stage “extempore” creation.As a mark of taking Indian Classical Music into the futuristic realm, in this program SIFAS features the young Maestro Abhishek Raghuram, a torch-bearer of the traditional form of this music with a contemporary touch and a gaze into the future. As a tribute to its 70th year anniversary, the 17th edition of the SIFAS Festival of Classical Indian Dance, Music and Arts 2019 celebrates the history, heritage and arts of Singapore by creating a platform for international and local artistes in a 24 day festival from 22 March 2019 to 14 April 2019. As part of the festival, SIFAS is proud to present an original production, Natya Yatra, which commemorates the 100 year history of Classical Indian dance in Singapore. This theatrical dance production brings together 4 major Indian dance schools and 1 long-time troupe, each with its own rich and vibrant history: SIFAS (1949), Bhaskar’s Arts (1952), Apsara Arts (1977), Temple of Fine Arts (1981) and Bharathaa Arts (1999). Presented from the spectator’s perspective, the show illustrates the beginnings, evolution and future prospects of Classical Indian dance through 5 distinctive acts which showcase a variety of Indian dance genres using anecdotal narratives; cutting edge technology through lighting design and animation; archival images of historic moments, places and people; and a live orchestra performing iconic historic music combined with original compositions-- all of which embody SIFAS’s main philosophy – Art Characterises Civilisation.Aimed with the purpose of cultivating the arts in Singapore, this never- before-seen production promises to entertain and educate our Singapore audience on the legacy of Indian classical dance and encourages them to preserve and participate in this art form. This production also serves as an opportunity to recognize and pay homage to the pioneers and inspirational legends.
